For Alzies, navigating the kitchen can be frustrating and sometimes dangerous, as memory lapses may lead to forgotten steps or unattended appliances. Simple tasks, like following a recipe or finding utensils, become challenging, impacting both safety and independence. With organized spaces and easy-to-use tools, however, the kitchen can remain a manageable and comforting place.
A dedicated group of volunteers prepares and delivers homemade meals to dementia patients, providing a much-needed day of rest for their caregivers. The initiative recognizes the constant commitment of loved ones who care for their Alzies around the clock, often without a break. Each week, volunteers cook nourishing, comforting dishes and personally deliver them with a warm "knock-knock" at the door, bringing not only food but a sense of support and community. By allowing caregivers to step back, recharge, and trust that their loved ones are well-fed, "Knock Knock" brings relief, appreciation, and connection to families navigating dementia care.

As a high-functioning Alzie, there is a feeling of being lost in the population of the disease. High functioners are somewhat ignored. I am dedicated to bringing awareness to the high-functioning Alzie, creating a 'place' in the progressing present. My vision is to join and share.
